Pharmacy Call Routing
Keep compounding pharmacy prescription messages in the right lane
Sort patient, prescriber, refill, shipment, and preparation questions without offering medication advice or confirming an unreviewed prescription.
Verify the message context
Use the pharmacy's approved identity procedure, then capture caller name, patient name, date of birth if permitted, callback number, prescriber, and prescription or order reference. Avoid repeating sensitive details where others can hear them.
Choose a message lane
Classify the call as refill request, new-prescription status, prescriber clarification, shipping question, billing issue, storage concern, or request for a pharmacist. Record the question verbatim. An assistant must not interpret ingredients, dosing, interactions, beyond-use dates, substitutions, or expected effects.
Recognize when the script ends
Side effects, dosing mistakes, damaged or temperature-exposed packages, and urgent medication needs require the pharmacy's defined pharmacist or emergency escalation. Do not assess severity. Follow the written path and preserve the caller's words and time of contact.
State what happens next
Read back the callback number and message category. Say whether the note was routed to a pharmacist, fulfillment, shipping, billing, or prescriber-support queue, using only an approved response window. Logging a request does not mean a refill, compound, or shipment is approved.
