Courier Dispatch Calls
Medical courier calls need an auditable chain of custody
Capture pickup, delivery, package, timing, temperature, and authorized contacts without handling clinical or specimen decisions.
Identify both ends of the trip
Record the approved pickup and delivery locations, department or suite, ready time, deadline supplied by the requester, and verified contacts at both locations. Read back addresses and phone numbers before saving the request.
Capture the package requirements
Use the courier's approved fields for package count, handling label, container type, temperature range stated by the sender, and any supplied tracking reference. The call handler should not classify a specimen or decide whether packaging is compliant.
Preserve custody events
Timestamp request receipt, dispatch acceptance, courier assignment, pickup, exception, and delivery as separate events. Never mark a handoff complete because someone intends to do it. Record the person or approved system that confirmed each event.
Escalate exceptions quickly
Route spills, damaged packaging, temperature concerns, missing labels, rejected deliveries, and identity disputes to the designated operations or clinical owner. Do not improvise disposal, repackaging, or clinical instructions.
